Data access without VPN
Mobile working has become more and more important over the last few years. This does not only mean access to company networks via mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets, but also generally working outside of company offices, regardless of the device – for example in the study of a private apartment or in a hotel room.
In order to be able to securely access the company network and its data from outside, the virtual private network method – short: VPN – is often used. With a VPN, a so-called “tunnel” is created between your smartphone and the company network, to which only you or your computer have access.
However, setting up a VPN is often complicated and involves many pitfalls, and establishing a connection is often difficult or even impossible for a variety of reasons – be it due to a lack of/unstable internet or a variety of other technical reasons.
However, no VPN tunnel is required to access your TeamDrive data – no matter which location you access it from.
With TeamDrive, your data is transported over the Internet using highly secure end-to-end encryption and stored on the TeamDrive server. Even if someone were to manage to access your data during the transfer between the TeamDrive cloud server and your computer, they wouldn’t be able to do anything with it. Because it will be practically impossible for him to crack the encryption and gain access to the contents of the files.
By the way: If a connection between your computer and the TeamDrive server (usually: TeamDrive cloud) is not possible – for example due to a lack of internet connection – you will still be able to work with your files to be able to. Because all synchronized files are not only on the server in the TeamDrive cloud, but also locally on your computer.
As soon as there is an Internet connection again or your computer can connect to the TeamDrive server again, the synchronization between the computers of the members of your TeamDrive Spaces and the TeamDrive server immediately.
