IDP.Generic is not a sure sign of a threat, but a warning that there are indications of a possible threat. Very often these are false positives.
It is a detection mechanism built into antivirus software that monitors potential identity theft attempts and suspicious behavior in programs. If your antivirus scanner flags something as “IDP.Generic”, it means that the identity protection component has detected potentially harmful activity that could compromise your personal data or system security.

We are sure that the downloads from our homepage are safe.

To be on the safe side, it is recommended:

  1. Check with an online tool whether the named file is infected, e.g. with virustotal – where files are tested with the most common anti-malware programs at the same time. If the majority find no threat, it is probably harmless.
  2. Download a second virus scanner and run a complete scan of the hard disk. If nothing is found, then the message was most likely a false positive.
  3. You should then add an exception for the false-positive file or add it to the white list.

If we receive messages from customers about such reports, we actively write to the relevant anti-virus operators to prevent these false warnings in future.
