Hamburg, March 16, 2023 – Hamburg-based cloud provider TeamDrive GmbH is increasingly positioning its eponymous high-security cloud service as the basis for New Work. “More and more people are working on several projects and for several clients at the same time, and working groups are changing dynamically,” says TeamDrive Managing Director Detlef Schmuck, outlining key elements of the new world of work.

The traditional company server or the company’s own data center often do not do justice to this flexibility, says Schmuck. He points out the advantages of TeamDrive: “New data rooms can be created within minutes and team members invited to join – internal employees as well as freelancers or employees from other companies along the value chain. Despite this flexibility, all data rooms guarantee the highest level of data protection and data security in accordance with legal requirements in Germany.” He lists the GDPR and GoBD, confidentiality at the same high level as for judges or tax advisors, automatic backup and a high level of protection against cybercrime as examples.

All common platforms, applications and clouds

The TeamDrive service works on all common computer platforms such as Windows and Mac, with practically all applications such as Microsoft Office and with other cloud services such as Microsoft Onedrive or Apple iCloud. Smartphones and tablets can also be integrated into the workgroups. The software can be downloaded free of charge at www.teamdrive.com/download. Private use remains permanently free of charge; professional use costs around 70 euros per workplace per year.

The provider describes the functionality from the user’s point of view as “simple”. A new folder is created for a new working relationship and all participants are invited by email. The team folder is automatically set up by the system both in the cloud and on the devices of all participants. All changes to files within this folder are automatically synchronized between all participants, whereby the access rights can be flexibly adjusted so that, for example, not everyone can read or change every file. New team members are added by e-mail, while access can be withdrawn from departing participants at any time “at the touch of a button”. Corresponding folders are simply created for different projects, clients, teams or customers. Files can be moved between TeamDrive folders and other cloud services such as Apple iCloud or Microsoft Onedrive by simply dragging and dropping.

Highly secure storage in German data centers

All files stored in TeamDrive are transferred in highly encrypted form and stored in German data centers. This means you don’t have to worry about data protection: even the storage of sensitive personal data at TeamDrive complies with strict German data protection legislation.

Working with information that could later be relevant for an official tax audit is also unproblematic. All storage and change processes on TeamDrive are automatically logged in an audit-proof manner. This means that the system meets the requirements of the GoBD, the principles for the proper management and storage of books, records and documents in electronic form and for data access, as required by the tax authorities. This includes, for example, quotations, calculations, product and service descriptions and, of course, invoices and other financial documents.

“If you use TeamDrive, you don’t have to worry about the legal aspects,” says Managing Director Detlef Schmuck casually. He explains: “We have done everything we can to make TeamDrive as easy to use as possible, while at the same time meeting all the legal requirements in Germany.”

TeamDrive emphasizes that the data is “particularly cleverly” protected against hacker attacks. It can never be ruled out that the data falls into the wrong hands. But the data is highly encrypted and TeamDrive itself has no keys to customer data that could be stolen. In other words, data thieves cannot decrypt and read the information under any circumstances. Personal data, trade secrets and other sensitive data therefore remain protected even in the event of a hacker attack.

TeamDrive is regarded as “secure sync & share software made in Germany” for storing, synchronizing and sharing data and documents. It is based on end-to-end encryption, which ensures that only the user himself can read the data – neither TeamDrive nor any authority in the world can decrypt the data. This technical and legally binding security is appreciated by over 500,000 users and more than 5,500 companies from all sectors, from industry and healthcare to law firms, business and tax consultancy and public administration. TeamDrive ensures that all data is stored exclusively on servers in Germany and guarantees compliance with German data protection legislation. TeamDrive supports Windows, Mac OS, Linux, Android and iOS. The newly added Hornetdrive service further expands this position.
