Protection against data leaks, computer hackers and unauthorized data access at the highest level

Hamburg, June 15, 2021 – In addition to people and party platforms, experience shows that mishaps play a significant role in election campaigns. To avoid unwelcome data mishaps, Hamburg-based TeamDrive GmbH (www.teamdrive.com) recommends its data storage and exchange service of the same name. The high-security service allows strategies, campaigns, poster designs, deployment plans and everything else needed for a successful election campaign to be exchanged between all participants in an end-to-end encrypted manner. It is possible to specify exactly who can access which digital documents in the highly encrypted, high-security cloud storage – or not. Another important feature is that it is possible to track in detail who has set, read, changed or even removed which files and when. This traceability can also be useful in everyday political life, says TeamDrive CEO Detlef Schmuck.

The composition of working groups is possible at any time with just a few clicks. The same applies to changes, such as adding or removing individual team members or making changes to permissions for certain files. “There is probably no IT infrastructure for storing and exchanging data and files that is more flexible and at the same time more secure than TeamDrive,” formulates Detlef Schmuck. TeamDrive meets the requirements for professional secrecy holders such as tax consultants, auditors and lawyers in accordance with Section 203 of the German Criminal Code. “This represents the highest security level in the German legal system,” states Detlef Schmuck.

A decisive security factor here is the complete end-to-end encryption of all data. Both in the cloud and on all end devices, whether PC, tablet or smartphone, all information can be stored in encrypted form so that it cannot be read by unauthorized persons. This means that even if a device is lost or stolen, or hackers penetrate the cloud and the data falls into the wrong hands, the information still remains unreadable. TeamDrive also has no access keys to its customers’ data, so a cyberattack on the provider, for example, could not unintentionally release any information to the public. “In technical jargon, this is known as “zero-knowledge architecture,” which in layman’s terms translates as “what you don’t know, you can’t betray or lose.

Detlef Schmuck explains: “Democracy depends crucially on a fair election campaign and a high level of trust among the population in the results of elections. In our digital age, data security, data protection and the protection of privacy are particularly worthy of protection, especially in political communication. We are pleased to be able to make an important contribution to this in Germany with TeamDrive.”

TeamDrive is regarded as “secure sync&share software made in Germany” for storing, synchronizing and sharing data and documents because it complies with the high-security requirements set out in section 203 of the German Criminal Code for persons subject to professional confidentiality. The basis is end-to-end encryption, which ensures that only the user himself can read the data – neither TeamDrive nor any authority in the world can decrypt the data. This has even been confirmed with the “EuroPriSe” data protection seal of approval since the beginning of 2020. This technical and legally binding security is appreciated by over 500,000 users and more than 5,500 companies from all sectors, from industry to healthcare, business and tax consulting, and public administration. TeamDrive supports Windows, Mac OS, Linux, Android and iOS.
