GDPR compliance

With the General Data Protection Regulation, or GDPR for short, data protection for public bodies (public service) and non-public bodies (companies) is regulated uniformly for the first time in the EU. The GDPR came into force on May 25, 2018 and was drafted to harmonize data protection laws across Europe and, above all, to provide better protection for personal data. Ultimately, the GDPR applies in principle to every person and every body that deals with the personal data of EU citizens. If you are an EU citizen or process personal data of EU citizens, you are subject to the GDPR.

With TeamDrive you basically meet all the requirements of the GDPR regarding data storage

An important principle of the GDPR is that your data may only be stored and processed on servers physically located within the EU.

If you use the standard TeamDrive cloud to store your data, your encrypted data is located on servers in Germanyin a large German data center in Frankfurt on the Main.

Your data therefore does not leave the German location and therefore remains in the territory of the EU. Companies from third countries such as the USA, which may not be subject to such strict data protection guidelines, do not legally have access to your data.

In addition, TeamDrive encrypts your files permanently and before they are transferred to the TeamDrive server over the Internet. Through the end-to-end encryption and the Zero Knowledge Principle, your data cannot be viewed by third parties.

The tested and certified data security of the TeamDrive Cloud solution is regularly confirmed and certified by independent auditors – including certified by accredited experts from EuroPriSe GmbH. Read more about this on the Compliance page
