We are proud that TeamDrive scored best in the Diplomatic Council’s Cloud Sync&Share Services Report 2017. The report was prepared by the Diplomatic Council (DC), a global think tank with consultative status at the United Nations.

We are the proud winner of the Sync&Share Services Report 2017 of the Diplomatic Council.

Due to the fact that the United Nations is behind this report, we consider this a very strong message to all our customers!
According to the Diplomatic Council, the report was prepared due to an increasing demand for a neutral comparison of IT services for secure and reliable data exchange over the Internet (cloud). There is a growing demand for recommendations for individual services, especially in view of the obvious “hustle and bustle of the secret services”, the increasing cybercrime including industrial espionage and the partial legal uncertainty regarding global data protection rules.

And – who would have thought: According to the report, TeamDrive offers the most secure service in the Sync&Share Services Report 2017! The following is an excerpt from the Diplomatic Council report.

Three security criteria are not met by many

Alternatives commonly used by US vendors such as Dropbox, Box, Google Drive or Microsoft One Drive are explicitly not recommended as they “do not support important security criteria such as end-to-end encryption, a zero knowledge system and hybrid data storage,” according to the report. The Global Information Security Forum of the Diplomatic Council considers these three security features to be particularly important. End-to-end encryption ensures that data is not unencrypted either during transmission or storage on the Internet. A zero-knowledge system means that even the provider cannot decrypt the data and therefore cannot read it – not even in the case of an official order, for example. With hybrid data storage, the user can select the storage location and implement additional classifications. Thanks to redundant storage and unchangeable version control, no data is lost in the event of technical failure or attacks from the Internet. The relevant data can always be restored. The think tank’s report describes hybrid data storage as a “critical criterion for selecting a cloud-based Sync&Share service” to ensure that data remains available in the cloud even in the event of data loss.

Comparison of 12 Services in Sync&Share Services Report 2017

Overall, the Diplomatic Council took a closer look at twelve cloud-based Sync&Share services as part of its study: Dropbox, Box, Google Drive, Microsoft One Drive for business, Spider Oak, Syncplicity, TeamDrive, SSP Europe, Telekom MagentaCloud, Strato HiDrive, Ctera Portal and Tresorit. In addition to the award for the most secure services, TeamDrive and Secure Data Space are also recognized by Thinktank’s Global Information Security Forum as the only services to carry the German privacy seal of approval from the Independent Center for Privacy. TeamDrive is the only service recommended by the German Bar Association (DAV) for professional secrets such as lawyers and notaries. According to the Security Forum in the Diplomatic Council, a service that meets this high standard is also recommendable for industry.

Dr. Thomas Lapp, Chairman of the Global Information Security Forum in the Diplomatic Council, says: “It is to be hoped that the operators of all services will recognize the security deficiencies of their services as soon as possible and improve them as quickly as possible. A high level of security is in the interest of all concerned”.

Our TeamDrive promise: We will always do our best to always be one step ahead!
