Studying, work or leisure, everyone knows it: “Send me the file”. This can be done simply via messaging service or classically via e-mail. Another option is data transfer with TeamDrive.

What is a data transfer?

The term data transfer simply describes the transfer of a file from one device to another. One file can be everything. A holiday photo, a video of the last party night or even an important document such as an invoice. The data transfer itself can take place either via Internet, Bluetooth, USB stick or analog via cable. While Bluetooth, USB stick and cable require a physical proximity between the end devices, data can be sent from anywhere via e-mail or a messaging service such as WhatsApp. But what about larger files and data security?

Transfer large amounts of data

Especially when you want to send large amounts of data, conventional methods of data transfer seem cumbersome and problematic. Messaging services seem to take a very long time to do this and are only suitable for the transfer of private data, but not for the transmission of important company documents. Transfer by e-mail is also difficult, especially with large amounts of data that may have to be sent back and forth more frequently. The storage capacity of an e-mail mailbox is quickly exceeded and the files cannot reach their destination. For this reason, online storage in particular offers a sensible option for transferring large amounts of data. In addition, data transfer via a cloud offers the advantage of data processing and synchronization in real time.

Data transfer with TeamDrive

A data transfer with TeamDrive offers you not only the classic advantages of a cloud, but also another significant advantage. A data transfer with TeamDrive guarantees the consistent security of your data. Thanks to end-to-end encryption, your data is protected from unauthorized third party access right from the start of the transfer to the cloud. Only you and the persons selected by you have the key and the rights to view the files. Every user needs his TeamDrive Client to do this. This is free for private use. For business use, free customer or mandate licenses are available in addition to the fee-based licenses. These are limited to one space. This means that there is no obstacle to confidential data transfer.

Password-protected data transfer with TeamDrive

For example, if you want to send a large file to a customer who does not have access to TeamDrive, you can send it using TeamDrive’s Outlook plugin. Secured with a password, it increases the protection of the file. The plugin enables you to send the corresponding files directly to your customers via a TeamDrive server. There is no size limit for your attached files. After receiving the e-mail, the recipient only needs to enter a previously defined password. This gives them access to the data sent to them even without a TeamDrive account. Document dispatch is therefore legally secure even after the new DSGVO.

Security through time limitation

Another advantage of data transfer via the Outlook plugin is the time limitation of data storage on the server. You can define a period of time after which the data should be deleted automatically from the server. In this way, you have complete control over your data at all times, simply and conveniently.
