Since the acquisition of Hornetdrive by TeamDrive, we have transferred all data to our cloud platform in Frankfurt. Both cloud solutions have been running independently of each other until now. From now on, we can offer you a migration from Hornetdrive to TeamDrive with the latest TeamDrive app. With TeamDrive, many new and additional functions are available to you. We have designed the migration so that you can continue to work with all existing drives unchanged with all members. After your contract migration, all additional functions will then be available to you, such as the web app in the browser, the Outlook Addin for Windows, working with a virtual drive, retention periods, read receipts and much more. However, you can only share these new features with TeamDrive users. Switching to TeamDrive offers you a long-term perspective with ongoing software enhancements and regular updates.
Migrating to TeamDrive is very simple and requires two steps: (The order of these steps does not matter.)
- The local/technical switch from the Hornetdrive app to the TeamDrive app
- The commercial switch.

Switching Apps
- Quit the Hornetdrive application completely (e.g. in Windows via the tray icon in the taskbar).
- Download the current version of TeamDrive here, suitable for your operating system: https://teamdrive.com/download.
- Install TeamDrive. In most cases, the default settings can be kept.
- Now start TeamDrive. TeamDrive will immediately recognize at startup that you have Hornetdrive installed and offer you the migration directly. Be sure to proceed with the migration at this point!
Commercial Switch
Please send us a short email with your migration request to info@teamdrive.com, telling us four things:
- Number of users you want to migrate with your account (organizational unit of users)
- List of email addresses of the users you want to migrate.
- Size of the cloud storage you intend to use with TeamDrive.
- Billing address and email.
We then set up your account and assign your licenses and members. With the first invoice, you will also receive access to an administration console. Here you can change or add any options you want.
Until this is done, you can simply use TeamDrive with the usual Hornetdrive services! However, until the commercial changeover, the additional functions of TeamDrive are still deactivated. Please note the difference in the function of the free guest licenses. In TeamDrive, an unlimited number of free guest licenses are available. However, unlike Hornetdrive, these are limited to one space each. In return, all TeamDrive Professional services are available to each guest in the Space.
Please also note that you will not be able to invite any other existing Hornetdrive users after the migration, as your data rooms are now Spaces on a technical level (this also includes your existing drives). Hornetdrive users cannot be invited to Spaces.
You can make the local/technical changeover (switching apps) independently and safely, regardless of our response to your e-mail. No data will be lost and you can always continue working without worry.
