GDPR-compliant: Work offline on a notebook without distributed storage of data and work together securely and confidentially.
Hamburg, January 14, 2020 – Editing information offline on a notebook while on the move and yet storing the data exclusively in the cloud – TeamDrive has solved this apparent contradiction. An automatic clean-up for virtual drives ensures that, on the one hand, you can work with the data on the local computer and, on the other hand, that the data is deleted from this PC or notebook once the processing is complete and is only stored on the central cloud server. This prevents data from being “lying around” on different computers. The latter would in no way be compatible with the basic data protection regulation, as long as it concerns personal information.
Secure collaboration within a team, with different computers and also with business partners across company boundaries is thus ensured without additional effort. There is no need for own servers or expensive VPN lines.
In contrast to similar services offered by US competitors, the data in TeamDrive is exclusively, highly encrypted and in German hands – this applies not only to the servers, but also to the provider, the Hamburg-based TeamDrive GmbH. Managing Director Detlef Schmuck emphasises: “As a German company we are subject exclusively to German legislation”, and delimits: “Many US companies advertise with servers in Germany and want to hide the fact that they are naturally subject to US legislation. This includes the US Patriot Act and the US Cloud Act, both of which grant access to the data inventories of US companies to the US authorities”. In any case, on the notebook as well as in the cloud, TeamDrive ensures with end-to-end encryption that unauthorised persons cannot get hold of the data, even if they were to capture it. If the notebook is stolen, for example, the thieves will still never be able to access the information in readable form.
