Name conflicts can occur when two folders, or files, have the same exact name. Please also be advised, that capitalization matters. For example, if there is a file called “Finances.docx” in a Space and one Space member uploads the file as “finances.docx” into the exact same location, TeamDrive sees this as two separate files and not as the same file with different capitalization. In the end, this generates a name conflict.
A quick and efficient way to locate and resolve a name conflict is to use the search function and filter for “Conflicted or Invalid Paths”.
To resolve a name conflict, simply rename one of the conflicted folders or files. It is best to rename files and folders via the TeamDrive client. This will result in the conflict being resolved much quicker. Afterwards, TeamDrive will recognize the changes and continue syncing just as before.
To resolve name conflicts for files or folders, please do the following:
- Navigate to “Active Spaces”.
- Locate the conflicted file or folder.
- Hover the mouse over the conflicted file or folder (on iOS and Android swipe the file or folder from right to left) and click on “i” to open the file or folder’s “Information” page.
- Click on the first row (containing the file or folder’s name) to rename the file or folder accordingly.
- Once the file or folder has been successfully renamed, click “save”.
