Hamburg, 31 May 2022 – Hamburg-based TeamDrive GmbH, operator of the high-security data service of the same name for holders of professional secrets, will be present at AdvoTec (Hall H, Stand 5.3) as part of the German Lawyers’ Day. The trade fair for the legal profession will take place on 23 and 24 June at the CCH Congress Center Hamburg.

According to independent audits, TeamDrive is suitable for persons subject to professional secrecy in the sense of Section 203 of the Criminal Code. These include, for example, lawyers, notaries and judges, but also doctors, tax consultants and auditors, who, like their employees, are subject to a legally regulated duty of confidentiality.

Seamless safety concept developed in Germany

The basis for this is seamless end-to-end encryption with a so-called zero-knowledge architecture. What sounds technical is actually quite simple: only the sender and recipient can access the information, the service operator does not gain access. Since TeamDrive GmbH does not have any access keys to customer data, it cannot hand them over even in response to official instructions.

The high-security data service has been completely developed and programmed in Germany since 2008. In addition, the Hamburg-based company guarantees that all data files are processed and stored exclusively in Germany. In addition to the General Data Protection Regulation, TeamDrive also complies with the “Principles for the proper keeping and storage of books, records and documents in electronic form” (GoBD). This means that all access to the data and changes to the files are logged in a traceable manner.

Practical data platform for everyday working life

Especially in the legal sector, whether for lawyers or notaries, TeamDrive offers a practical data platform in everyday work due to the security aspects. On the one hand, data can be made available securely within the law firm for joint work. Employees can access the files as usual with the usual file tools such as Windows Explorer or Apple Finder on their computers, and they are nevertheless stored and backed up centrally in the cloud.

In addition, files can be exchanged securely with clients. For this purpose, the clients are invited to so-called “Spaces” and are given access to shared folders in the cloud. Both sides can store, download and edit files there. A rights management system regulates what the clients are allowed to do – and what they are not. In addition, e-mail attachments can be made available for encrypted download via a link in Outlook. The size of the attachment is irrelevant, which makes the daily work much easier.

Protection against hacker attacks

TeamDrive’s data is comprehensively protected even against hacker attacks. On the one hand, in-house development in Germany ensures that no foreign security vulnerabilities have been intentionally programmed in. This is precisely what the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) recently warned about with other software from abroad.

Secondly, potentially captured data files are worthless to hackers because they cannot find any associated access keys. “What is not there cannot be stolen,” Detlef Schmuck, managing director of TeamDrive GmbH, sums up his company’s security concept in this regard.
