Deployment models – who operates the servers?
TeamDrive Cloud
TeamDrive hosts all servers in German data centres.
On-Premises
You operate the Hosting, Registration and WebPortal servers yourself.
Hybrid
Some components run on your infrastructure, while others are hosted by TeamDrive. Existing servers can be combined with hosted cloud services.
OneDrive / Azure Storage
Encrypted files are stored in your OneDrive or Azure account, for example using the storage included in your Microsoft 365 licence.
The only exception is the TeamDrive Global Name Server (TDNS), which is always operated by TeamDrive Systems. It processes anonymised data and has no access to usernames or email addresses. It ensures that each email address is registered only once worldwide and facilitates the exchange of public keys between Registration Servers, provided your administrator permits their release.

TeamDrive Enterprise Hosting Server – Stores Your Encrypted Files

- Public key infrastructure for RSA-3072-encrypted communication across all clients
- Trust centre for users’ encrypted backup keys

TeamDrive WebPortal Server – Browser-Based Access Without Installation
- A dedicated sandbox for each user; requested files are decrypted only in memory for the duration of the session
- Sandbox contents are stored in encrypted form when the session ends

- Single Sign-On via External Authentication: Credentials remain in your directory service. Supported options include AD/LDAP, OAuth 2.0, ADFS and Vasco.
- API: The Hosting Server, Registration Server and Server App provide APIs for integration with third-party systems.
