High-security data service TeamDrive acquires DATEV Cloudbox customers

Hamburg, May 18, 2021 – The well-known IT service provider DATEV (Nuremberg) has discontinued its “DATEV Cloudbox” service. For the customers affected by this, the Hamburg-based data service provider TeamDrive is offering an acquisition service. As part of the acquisition, TeamDrive will support the transfer of all data previously stored at DATEV Cloudbox to the TeamDrive Cloud. TeamDrive meets the requirements for professional secrecy holders such as tax consultants, auditors and lawyers in accordance with Section 203 of the German Criminal Code. Further information on the new transfer service: https://teamdrive.com/teamdrive-als-alternative-zur-datev-cloudbox/.

DATEV justifies the discontinuation of the service: “DATEV regularly subjects its solutions and services to a review regarding the continuation of the respective offering. Customer benefit and customer satisfaction are important factors for the economic success of a product. Functional limitations reduce customer benefits too much. Under the given framework conditions, DATEV Cloudbox has no perspective on the market.” (Source: https://apps.datev.de/dnlexka/document/1007575)

TeamDrive is different, as Managing Director Detlef Schmuck explains, “The combination of highly secure data storage and flexibility with which virtual workspaces can be set up, combined with an exceptional price/performance ratio, have led more than half a million users to TeamDrive in recent years. In the current home office situation, demand has jumped again.”

Important for previous users of DATEV Cloudbox: the frequently encountered use together with the DATEV terminal server solutions is supported by TeamDrive without restrictions, according to its own information. The Hamburg-based company has set up a help page especially for former Cloudbox users at www.teamdrive.de/cloudbox.

As TeamDrive GmbH emphasizes, its cloud data service “fully complies with all legal requirements in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation and the principles for the proper keeping and storage of books, records and documents in electronic form as well as for data access.” All data is subject to seamless end-to-end encryption on all end devices, for all data transfers and for storage in the cloud. TeamDrive relies on a strict zero-knowledge principle, which means that the provider itself does not retain any keys to the customer data. Access authorizations are granted without exception via two-factor authentication. Just like DATEV, the data center is physically located in the Federal Republic of Germany and is subject exclusively to German law.
